In the 2021 presidential elections, President Museveni secured victory with 58.38% of the vote. His support is expected to rise significantly in the 2026 elections, following five years of implementing his socio-economic transformation agenda, while opposition politicians remained entangled in internal conflicts and exposed their weaknesses.
President Museveni’s 5-year journey has been filled with his policy of Financial Inclusion that birthed wealth creation programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), the 4-acre model, youth livelihood programs, emyooga Etc Etc.
The uninterrupted peace and security in Uganda ushered in by Museveni and the National Resistance movement has provided a conducive environment for all Ugandans to grow in all areas.
This same environment has seen Uganda’s economic growth steady for the past five years with an average annual growth rate of 4.7% .
This has led to a surge in foreign investments, driven by industrial parks and direct foreign capital. The established industrial parks have created over 2 million jobs, fueling economic growth and tackling unemployment, particularly among the youth employed in these facilities.
Meanwhile, the opposition continues to make attempts to disrupt the widely cherished peace in Uganda. Many Ugandans have come to see them as a group driven by self-interest, lacking a clear vision for national development.
Rather than focusing on people-centered policies, opposition leaders have spent their time promoting divisive politics, engaging in parliamentary brawls, inciting violence, and disrupting businesses.
Additionally, several have been implicated in corruption scandals, misappropriating millions in taxpayer funds. As a result, the opposition is increasingly viewed as a deceptive force that preaches integrity but practices the opposite.
The opposition politicians have spent the past 5 years playing “sympathy politics” and working hard to tarnish Uganda’s image to the international community. They are seen as colonial agents spending most of their time working for the enemies of their country, failing to participate in national activities aimed at developing the citizens they claim to be liberating.
President Museveni’s tolerance, strong ideology, and vision-driven leadership have enabled him to secure multiple election victories with ease. The 2026 elections are set to be another smooth victory for him, as opponents like Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine,Kiiza Besigye have failed to prove their capability to lead a nation.
Museveni is expected to win with an even larger margin than in 2021, while the opposition faces a disastrous performance. Their lack of democratic principles, internal financial disputes, confusion, hooliganism, intellectually bankrupt leaders and corruption will not only hinder their political progress but also push them further into irrelevance.
The opposition in Uganda has learned nothing and forgotten nothing from their past strategic mistakes that led to consecutive election losses. The 2026 elections will be no different, as Ugandans are fully prepared for them.
