Chance Nalubega Accuses The Orchard Music of Claiming Her Music Without Permission

Date:

Veteran musician Chance Nalubega was shocked to discover she didn’t own the rights to her music, which meant she wasn’t permitted to earn from it.

Taking to her Facebook account, Chance Nalubega revealed that she found out when she tried to follow up on her music on digital platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, and found that a distributing company known as The Orchard Music Distributors had taken over the rights.

She emphasized that she had never entered into an agreement with the company in question and denied them the right to distribute and earn royalties from her music. She wondered how they got a hold of her music to the point that, when she tried to upload it, they imposed copyright claims.

Nalubega further stressed that she composed her songs, invested in studio sessions, and funded all her videos, only for her music to be owned by someone else.

The singer further shared that she was seeking clarification from the company and vowed to follow up until she received the answers she deserved.

“Who are the Orchard Music Distributors? We have a big problem as Ugandan artists. Can you imagine they claimed my music as their own and are earning money from it? I do not have permission to monitor my own music? I composed my music, took myself to the studio, and put together money for videos without anyone’s help. Now, someone comes from nowhere claiming my songs. I will not allow it,” read Chance Nalubega’s post
