Yoweri Museveni Declared Winner of 2026 Election, Secures 7th Term

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today, 17 January 2026, been declared the elected president of Uganda. 

The Uganda Electoral Commission has announced the final election results at the National Tally Centre in Lweza. 

The development follows the recently concluded nationwide general elections, during which Ugandans participated to decide their next President. 

The 2026 presidential aspirants included Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu(Bobi Wine), Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Gregory Mugisha Muntu Oyera, Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga, Frank Bulira Kabinga, Robert Kasibante, and Elton Joseph Mabirizi. 

President Museveni’s announcement has been met with significant excitement across the country, where NRM supporters jubilated over the results. 

Following this win, President Museveni will be ruling the country for seventh (7th) consecutive termin office.
