Veteran singer Iryn Namubiru has opened up on the long break that she took without releasing new music, citing that she was handling her personal life.
Last year, Iryn stirred conversations in the media after she officially released her memoir, discussing her personal life, especially her estranged relationship with her mother, which kept her away from her for over 11 years.
During this time, she was not releasing any new music, and fans speculated that she was on a break because she was suffering from depression. During her TV interview, Iryn dismissed the claims, stating that she was still handling her personal life and couldn’t focus on her music projects until she finished them.
“When I felt better and had enough energy, I thought it was the right time for me to start releasing music again, as I handle other projects on the side. When I was quiet, that situation didn’t allow me to do music very well. I was not ready to sing or create something positive,” Iryn said.
Initially, Iryn confessed that she had been holding back for a long time about what she was going through with her family out of fear of people judging her and what they would say about her.

“I was not mad to speak out, and I was very happy that I did. I can do it again and again, and even add in more details that I had kept back. I expected the negative reactions from some people, but they were not worse than what I had endured,” Iryn Namubiru said.
