Renowned VJ Junior, real name Mary Smarts Matovu, has hinted at putting the mic down and retiring from the movie translating industry.
Drawing inspiration from his brother, Ron Heavy Q Kabaka, VJ Junior commenced his career in 2006 with his first translated movie being Air Force One (Harrison Ford).
As his brother exited the country for greener pastures abroad, Junior took the reins of Q’s digital company and has kept his brother’s legacy of translating English movies into Luganda on the front page.
Junior’s hard work and prowess have enabled him to place his career at the pinnacle of the film translation industry in Uganda.
With his career spanning over a decade, VJ Junior, in an interview, revealed that he considers retiring to allow budding VJs to take the lead.
He stressed that he is grateful for the inspiration he has given many to join the industry, urging them to remain optimistic and strive for success.

Junior maintained that he had invested wisely, and his retirement would not affect his financial flow in any way. Furthermore, Junior stressed that in his retirement plan, he considers taking the role of a film director or producer to help the Ugandan film industry grow.
