Traders Outcry Losses as Fire Destroys Jinja Warehouse

Date:

A devastating fire has destroyed the Suppliers World Warehouse located along Eng. Zikusooka Road, formerly known as Obote Way, in Jinja City.

The blaze spread rapidly across several warehouses, with property worth millions feared lost. Local residents, in collaboration with firefighters from police and private establishments such as Kakira Sugar Ltd., fought tirelessly to bring the blaze to a halt.

Kora police spokesperson Mr. James Mubi confirmed the development, saying, “I can confirm that there has been a fire outbreak at the Supplier World facility. As of now, we cannot establish how much damage has been occasioned by the fire whose cause we’re yet to find out.”

He went on to narrate the difficulty they found, saying, “Our team went to the scene on time to stop the fire but failed because there was no space for the fire brigade vehicle to pass.”

“Jinja is not what it used to be. People have constructed buildings in emergency ways; that is why it is sometimes very hard for police fire vehicles to drive through areas where there is a fire outbreak.”

In the aftermath of these mysterious fires in Jinja, authorities have heightened security measures to protect nearby government fuel reserves, which were also in close proximity to the fire scene.
