The rift between musician Sheebah Karungi and former record label Team No Sleep continues to grow, crossing into the courts of law.
Last year, Sheebah Karungi, through her legal team, the SM & Co Advocates, took legal action against her former record label, Team No Sleep (TNS), over alleged exploitation of her musical works.
The legal document indicated that Sheebah is the author and sole owner of the copyright in all her musical works and retains full and exclusive rights. Any unauthorized use, distribution, or exploitation of her works by TNS constituted a direct infringement of her intellectual property rights.
Team No Sleep, however, argued that they needed to revisit the terms and conditions that were in the singer’s contract.
This forced them to seek help from the high court, which summoned both parties on the 16th of this month. According to the summons letters circulating on social media, signed by the Deputy Registrar, the High Court of Uganda at Kampala (Commercial Division) summoned both parties: Team No Sleep as the plaintiff, and Sheebah Karungi, alongside Ziki Holdings PVT Limited, as the defendants.
Sheebah, however, didn’t show up as expected, as she was on the plane en route to Japan, where she will be performing for her fans a few days from now.
According to reports, the court decided they would set a new date to address the matter.

Sheebah joined Jeff Kiiwa’s TNS in 2013 until they parted ways over irreconcilable differences. Following her exit, Sheebah has been releasing her own music under her label Karma Music, which she officially launched in 2023.
