Date:

In a moment rich with symbolism and significance, His Highness Papa Emorimor, the revered cultural leader of the Iteso people, presided over a landmark reconciliation between two of Uganda’s distinguished sons, Capt. Mike Mukula and Sanjay Tana.

The two statesmen, who had previously faced off in a spirited contest for the position of National Vice Chairman (Eastern) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), embraced each other in a gesture that transcended politics. Under the wise counsel of Papa Emorimor, they pledged to put aside past rivalries and forge a united path forward in service of Uganda’s national development.

Standing beneath the flags of Uganda and the East African Community, their handshake — firm, genuine, and blessed by the wisdom of the Emorimor — symbolized a new covenant of patriotism, maturity, and collective ambition.

“We competed, yes. But today, we unite as brothers, as sons of the same soil, committed to the higher cause of building a prosperous Uganda,” Capt. Mukula affirmed.

Sanjay Tana echoed these sentiments, stating, “Leadership is not merely about elections; it is about the unyielding duty to serve. We stand together to build, to heal, and to advance.”

A Lesson for the Nation

At a time when political contests across Africa sometimes sow division, the example set today under Papa Emorimor’s watchful eye sends a resounding message:

Competition must never destroy kinship. Ambition must never extinguish unity.

Uganda’s future is not secured by perpetual rivalry, but by the wise weaving together of talent, experience, and commitment across all sectors of society.

This reconciliation reflects the true spirit of the NRM’s founding principles — resilience, unity, and service above self.

It reminds all leaders, both current and aspiring, that our collective destiny demands solidarity, not fragmentation; magnanimity, not bitterness.

The Emorimor’s Statesmanship

In orchestrating this historic moment, Papa Emorimor reaffirms his role not merely as a cultural leader, but as a custodian of national stability and moral authority.

His intervention today stands as a masterstroke of political statesmanship — demonstrating that true power lies not in domination, but in reconciliation; not in shouting, but in healing.

As Uganda strides boldly toward greater regional integration, economic expansion, and generational renewal, voices like those of Papa Emorimor become ever more critical: Voices that call us to rise above pettiness, and to serve a cause far greater than ourselves.

A Future Forged Together

The reconciled energies of Capt. Mike Mukula and Sanjay Tana now turn toward the bigger task, Deepening political stability, Championing youth empowerment, Expanding opportunities for enterprise and innovation and elevating Uganda’s place in the East African renaissance.

Their handshake today is not the end of a rivalry — it is the birth of a new alliance. It is a call to all Ugandans to heal old wounds, to remember our shared destiny, and to lift our nation higher — together.
