Team Good Music singer Pallaso has backed Eddy Kenzo’s controversial statements against the rising criticism from the past generation of artists.
Eddy Kenzo, during his recent interview, sparked a huge debate after he claimed the previous generation of artists had no tangible achievements, such as houses in their names, despite having been in the music industry for a long time.
Following his interview, a group of Kadongo Kamu artists, like Willy Mukabya, Ssebatta, and Kibijigiri, among others, came together and shed tears on camera, accusing the UNMF president of being disrespectful towards them with his statements.
Pallaso, during an interview, revealed that the legendary artists might have misunderstood Eddy Kenzo’s statements. Breaking down the interview, Pallaso revealed that Kenzo was addressing the broken structures that prevented these artists from earning from their craft.
He claimed that, as artists in those days, they wrote many hit songs and made money from them, but due to piracy and malicious organizations, they lost it all and had none left to better their lives.
“I can only tell them to calm down. They might have misunderstood his statement. He wanted to say that this generation of artists on social media had found ways for artists to earn from their music. Maybe he didn’t bring the message out well, but that is what I see. He meant that those guys made music that flows even to us, but never earned anything. They were robbed more than us. They would have so much to show off,” he said.
Pallaso further noted that they only earn money from stage performances, which was not even the case in the past. That is why they are fighting hard to have the Copyright Bill passed to see that musicians earn from other avenues.
