Missing Person’s Body Recovered In Swamp

Date:

The body of a 57-year-old man, who had been missing for two days, was discovered floating in Mpongo Swamp. The deceased, identified only as Monday, was a resident of Kamirabyoma village in Mpasana Sub County, Kakumiro District.

According to eyewitnesses, Monday went missing while hunting with friends on Tuesday. Reports indicate that the animal they were pursuing turned aggressive, causing the group to scatter in different directions.

His whereabouts remained unknown until this morning, when a fisherman, Stephen Akugizibwe, found his body floating in the waters of Mpongo Swamp around 9 a.m.

Kyakajunani LCI Chairperson, Posiano Mugisa, has urged residents to exercise caution near the swamp due to its deep waters. He also advised parents to closely monitor their children and warned against allowing them to fish unsupervised.

By press time, the deceased’s body had been retrieved and taken home for burial.
