Musician Martha Mukisa has opened up about her maiden concert three years ago, confessing that it almost claimed her life.
Two years back, the Black Magic Entertainment singer announced her first-ever concert dubbed ‘Sisaaga’ at Freedom City.
Many had earlier anticipated that it would flop due to its timing and the artist’s inexperience in the industry. Kapa Cat, one of her biggest opponents of the concert, pointed out that she had only one significant song, Ssango, a collaboration with Eddy Kenzo, which was not enough to sustain a performance at such a big venue.
Despite the criticism, she went ahead with her concert as planned. Unfortunately, it registered a low turnout, an experience that nearly drove her into depression.
Martha, during her radio interview, revealed that it might not have been easy, but she learned valuable lessons from it. The concert, sponsored by some of the biggest names, opened doors for her, providing connections that helped her grow her brand.

She explained that she needed that tough lesson and encouraged other artists not to be afraid to go through that phase in their career, as it would help them elevate.
“The concert almost took my life, but it made a big deal for us. There was a lot of brand awareness generated, and a lot of learning in that. We also got to know different people. My concert was being sponsored by very big companies which helped me get to know a lot of people, I learnt a lot. A concert is not easy, and any artist should know that. Any artist has to allow themselves to face something like that because this is a business that needs you to grow. You fall and get up because being static in one place without growth is not okay. Allow yourself to go through that,” Martha Mukisa said.
