KCB Bank Uganda launches the FLME scheme to help female-led firms grow by providing tailored financial solutions and business mentorship.

KAMPALA, Uganda — KCB Bank Uganda has launched a new scheme called FLME to help female-led firms grow by providing targeted financial and non-financial support.

The initiative, which stands for Female-Led and Made Enterprises, was unveiled Thursday during a ceremony at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The bank said the program aims to address the specific challenges women face when trying to scale their businesses, such as limited access to credit and a lack of structured mentorship.

KCB Bank Uganda Managing Director Edgar Byamah told attendees that the scheme is a deliberate response to a progression gap in the market. He said FLME is designed to align finance, capacity building and market access into one coordinated platform.

The guest of honor, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council Chairperson Allen Kagina, said structured initiatives like this are exactly what is needed to unlock the potential of women in business and accelerate inclusive economic growth.

The program includes tailored financial solutions and enterprise development through the bank’s foundation. It also involves partnerships with organizations such as Mkazipreneur and the Nation Media Group’s Empower Her to help women gain visibility and enter new markets.

Lillian Namuli Akiki, an agribusiness owner from Tororo District, said the scheme is significant because it goes beyond simple financing. She noted that connecting women to knowledge and networks is what ultimately makes sustainable growth possible.

KCB Bank Uganda is a commercial bank licensed by the Bank of Uganda. It operates 16 branches and a network of hundreds of agents and merchant outlets across the country.
