Kabale-In a spirited call to action, Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Maj. Godfrey Katamba has urged the residents of Kabale district to embrace sports as a vital component of maintaining good health and unlocking employment opportunities.
His remarks came during a friendly match between Kabale Fitness Club and Kigezi Fitness Club, an event that also marked the conclusion of the Mayor’s Health Campaign in Kabale municipal stadium of Kabale Municipality.
Addressing participants at the event, Maj. Katamba emphasized the significant role of physical exercise in combating non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes saying that engaging in regular sports activities is not only beneficial for your physical well-being but also serves as a preventive measure against various health issues but also highlighting how sports can be a resourceful avenue for employment, offering opportunities in coaching, sports management, and other related fields.
The Mayor’s Health Campaign, which featured music, dance, and drama competitions among several schools, showcased the vibrant community spirit and commitment to health education where Lower Bugongi Primary School in Northern division emerged victorious in the competitions, demonstrating exceptional talent and creativity among other schools which include Kengoma primary school, Junction primary school, Kikungiri primary school, Kabale primary school, Kigezi high School Lower and Bugongi lower primary the winners.
Maj. Katamba’s advocacy aligns with broader efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and economic development through sports by encouraging active participation in sports, Kabale district aims to foster a healthier population while simultaneously creating pathways for economic growth.
The friendly match and campaign events were well-attended, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and support for initiatives that prioritize health and wellness as Kabale continues to champion sports as a dual-purpose tool for health and employment, residents are encouraged to take proactive steps towards integrating physical activity into their daily lives but also embrace regular medical check-ups.
