Kampala — Inspire Africa Group has recognised a group of outstanding journalists for their contribution to shaping and amplifying Uganda’s coffee story across television, radio, print, digital, and social media platforms.
The awards ceremony, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Inspire Café in Kampala, followed months of monitoring media coverage after the 2025 Coffee Media Boot Camp hosted at the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo.
The boot camp equipped journalists with deeper insight into the coffee value chain—from production at farm level to processing and consumption—strengthening their capacity to produce accurate, analytical, and development-focused reporting on the sector.
Among those honoured was Malcolm Musiime of NTV Uganda, recognised for his consistent and in-depth coverage of Uganda’s coffee value addition agenda on NTV Business Now.
Patricia Osman of Capital FM was awarded for her authoritative radio reporting that has helped broaden public understanding of the coffee industry.

Rogers Atukunda of SoftPower News was commended for his detailed feature writing, particularly on Uganda’s export performance and regional market expansion, while Geoffrey Serugo of The Observer was recognised for his coverage of the Coffee Marathon 2025, which linked sports to coffee sector awareness.
Kamazima Aine received the accolade in the social media category for her sustained digital advocacy promoting Ugandan coffee brands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Inspire Africa Group Chief Executive Officer Dr Nelson Tugume outlined the country’s ambitious plan to increase coffee earnings from $2.4 billion to $10 billion by 2030. He emphasised value addition, industrialisation, and coffee tourism as key drivers of this growth.

The event was officiated by Uganda Media Centre Executive Director Alan Kasujja, who underscored the media’s central role in national development and called on journalists to continue telling Uganda’s coffee story with accuracy, depth, and consistency.
On behalf of the award recipients, Musiime commended Inspire Africa Group for its collaboration with the media, noting that well-informed storytelling is vital in positioning Uganda as a competitive player in the global coffee industry.
