Hon. Balaam Barugahara Orders Arrest After Youth Admits to Murder and Robbery at Campaign Event

Date:

Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs), Hon. Balaam Barugahara, ordered the arrest of a youth who confessed to murder.

Hon. Balam was in Pallisa District ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign visit, and he had several youths come on stage to tell him about how they were living their lives as he looked for better ways to support them. Among those who came up was a Bugolya village resident, who left attendees shocked after claiming he was a robber.

When he got the microphone, he revealed that he moved with an iron bar that he uses to clobber his victims on the head and take off with their properties.

As he further answered Balaam’s questions about the vice, the man boldly confessed that he had been in and out of prison over four times, and he had also murdered three people.

This left everyone shocked, and when Hon. Balaam suggested that he take the area DPC to search his home, he humbly declined, claiming he would not involve himself with the police out of fear of going back to jail.

I’m a robber, and as you see me here, I still rob people. I use iron bars for hitting people on the head. I don’t have it with me right now because I left it at home. I have just got out of jail. I have been arrested four times, and I have killed three people so far. I hit them and take all their belongings that I find with them. This is because of the situation I’m in.

As he finished his speech, Balaam ordered the DPC to have him arrested for his confessions of murder and aggravated robbery.
