Frank Tumwebaze says he will focus on boosting household income if re-elected

Date:

Frank Tumwebaze, the minister of Agriculture and MP for Kibaale East, has said if he is re-elected in 2026, his major focus will be boosting the incomes of his people through coffee growing.

Tumwebaze told journalists after his official nomination at the NRM electorasl commission offices this week that he was optimistic he will realise his vision.

“My pledge to the people, especially the young people seeking employment, is to aggressively promote coffee farming,” he said. Tumwebaze announced an ambitious plan to produce at least 500,000 coffee seedlings annually for distribution to youth, aiming to foster economic empowerment through agricultural productivity.

Tumwebaze, who has represented Kibaale East since February 2006, highlighted the constituency’s progress as a measurable benchmark for their collective journey.

“We know where we started from,” he stated, pointing to significant strides in expanding social services, including water, electricity, hospitals, and schools, both in quantity and quality. He credited the unwavering support of his constituents for these achievements, asserting that “the statistics of our milestones do not lie.”

He also addressed gaps in social services coverage. Out of Kibaale East’s nine sub-counties, two lack secondary schools, and two to three lack Health Centre III facilities. Tumwebaze pledged to prioritize these areas in the next term, ensuring that all sub-counties are equipped with essential services.

“Our journey has been progressive, and this is a continuation,” he declared.

With less than a month left to the NRM primaries, voters in Kibaale East will decide whether to entrust Tumwebaze with another term to build on his legacy of transformation.
