Electoral Commission Pushes Voter Register Display To Late April

Date:

The Electoral Commission of Uganda has announced a revised timeline for the display of the National Voters’ Register and Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025/2026 General Elections.

In accordance with its constitutional mandate under Article 61 (1)(e) of the 1995 Constitution and the Electoral Commission Act (Cap 176), the Commission is responsible for compiling, updating, and displaying the National Voters Register to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.

Originally scheduled to begin on 17th April 2025 and end on 8th May 2025, the display of the National Voters Register will now take place from 25th April 2025 to 15th May 2025.

Similarly, the display of the voters registers for special interest groups—including youths, persons with disabilities, and older persons—has also been rescheduled. Initially set for 17th to 28th April 2025, this exercise will now occur from 25th April to 8th May 2025.

Additionally, the period for reviewing and addressing recommendations on voter inclusions or deletions from Parish Tribunals will now run from Friday, 16th May, to Monday, 26th May, 2025, across all parishes nationwide, in accordance with Section 26(2) of the Electoral Commission Act.

The Electoral Commission urges all stakeholders and eligible voters to actively participate in these crucial verification exercises and adhere to the official guidelines, ensuring a credible and inclusive electoral process.
