EC launches Kalangala Woman MP by-election roadmap

Date:

The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a stakeholders’ meeting in Kalangala on Friday, May 8, 2026, to launch the roadmap for the district Woman MP by-election.

The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of MP-elect Helen Nakimuli last month.

According to the EC, the meeting will begin at 8:00am at the district council hall grounds in Kalangala.

“The commission is inviting political parties, religious leaders and civil society organisations to discuss the election roadmap and guidelines,” EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi said.

“We aim to ensure a transparent process by outlining the legal expectations for all participants,” he added.

The meeting will also bring together security officials and local leaders to coordinate what the Commission described as a free and fair electoral process.

The engagement marks the formal commencement of activities to fill the vacant parliamentary seat.
