Diamond Platnumz : “Mzee Abdul Juma Is Not My Biological Father”

Date:

Tanzanian music sensation Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, has opened up about a long-standing personal truth, Mzee Abdul Juma, widely believed to be his father, is not his biological parent.

In a candid interview on Angela Yee’s renowned American radio show, the “Jeje” hitmaker revealed that his real father is a man named Salum Iddi Nyange.

Diamond explained that during his childhood and teenage years, his mother, Sandra, and Abdul Juma were not living together, although he would occasionally visit Juma’s home. However, he never felt truly welcome there. Unlike the other children, he often sensed he was treated differently, and he noticed that Juma’s mother didn’t favor his mother, something that always puzzled him.

Eventually, the singer stopped visiting Juma, feeling out of place. The turning point came when his maternal aunt, without his mother’s knowledge, shared a life-altering revelation that  Abdul Juma was not his biological father.

She urged him to go to the local market and find a man named Salum, and to tell him that he was Sandra’s son.

Though hesitant, Diamond followed her advice. When he met Salum, he was welcomed with open arms. Salum was overjoyed, embraced him warmly, and gave him some money and supplies for home. That moment marked the first time Diamond felt a genuine fatherly connection.

“Mzee Abdul Juma is not my biological father, despite what many people have believed. I came to learn this after going through a lot in my life. At one point, I was hungry and not in school, and my aunt asked why my father wasn’t supporting me. That’s when she confessed her doubts and suggested I find Salum. Though reluctant, I went to see him, and he embraced me with love. He gave me some money and things for the house  it was the first time I felt that kind of love from a father.”Diamond shared.

Tragically, Salum Iddi Nyange passed away several years ago.

Back in 2021, Diamond’s mother confirmed the truth publicly, stating that Abdul Juma had known from the beginning that he was not the child’s biological father. According to her, he only began to acknowledge Diamond as his son after the singer became famous a move she believed would have been more meaningful had he supported them during their struggles.

Diamond added that although he had tried to assist Abdul Juma later on, their relationship was strained. Juma expected to be treated equally to Diamond’s mother, something the artist said was not possible given the natural bond he shares with his mom.
