Bulambuli District NRM Office Summons 3 Sub County Registrars over Voter Register Inflation

Date:

Bulambuli District National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party office has today Monday, 10th March, 2025 summoned three sub county registrars over inflation of voters’ registers.

Last week, members, in four villages in Sotti Sub-County, Bulambuli district claimed that the displayed voter numbers are significantly lower than the actual numbers in the register.

For instance, in Namagude village, the displayed number is 145, but the register shows 469 voters. Similar discrepancies were found in Bukyawo where the displayed number was 114 but in register 315, Gombe’s displayed number is 114 but the register has 625 then in Kotta village, displayed number is 175 but the register has 357.

The three sub county registrars are from Sotti the most affected sub county, Bumasobo Sub County and Buyaga town council.

Martin Wagonyi and Sam Gidongo, some of the Party members who spoke to our reporter last week accused the district party executive and aspiring candidates of conspiring to rig the upcoming party primary elections using the inflated voter numbers.

Paulo Kimamati, the Bulambuli district NRM Chairperson, says that those registrars have been given letters summoning them to the office and explain.

He adds that if they don’t give reasonable answers they will lose their jobs because Bulambuli NRM office wants transparent party elections to avoid petitions and independent candidates like in the 2021 general election.
