Veteran dancehall musician Anitah Da Diva has opened up on her experience of using drugs, advising youths and fellow artists to stay off them.
Anitah, real name Anitah Tushabe, was one of the promising female artists in the dancehall genre. She, however, disappeared off the scene, and when asked about her hiatus, she says she is currently living a quiet life but is thinking of bouncing back into active music.
The dancehall star has in the past openly discussed her drug use, which she claimed was an influence from her then-boyfriend. In the video that made rounds online years back, Anitah was seen crying and begging the public to help her stay away from the violent man she accused of wasting her life through drugs.
Speaking during a TV interview, Anitah gave viewers an update about her life, noting that there was nothing exciting as yet, as she was still working on coming back into music.
Speaking about how she felt about young musicians relying on drug use to cope with the tensions in the industry, Anita gave them a piece of advice, saying that, as a person with drug abuse experience, she had to make the decision to quit before it was too late, acknowledging that it was the best decision in her life.

“I have used drugs before, but I urge you all to stay away from them. Don’t you see that I look good and healthy now? This happened when I quit. About the alcohol, I was not an alcoholic; I just used to taste. At this point, I do not use any intoxicants; I only take mineral water. And if you ever want to take me out, you only need to buy water,” she said.
