Producer turned musician Zulitums has opened up on how his collaboration with songbird Juliana Kanyomozi never came to life.
Zulitums was a guest on Galaxy TV, where he answered questions about his career. Last year, he released his love ballad ‘Gwegula’ featuring Lynda Ddane, and to give his fans a background story, he noted that he was initially meant to do it with Juliana Kanyomozi.
He revealed that, while he was still signed to Blacq Avay, he chose Juliana because he loved her and highly rated her music. Management met with Juliana, who suggested she owned a certain percentage of the song, which might have brought the negotiations to a standstill.
Zulitums revealed that, despite initial excitement, the collaboration didn’t proceed as planned because Juliana backed out of their arrangement. He noted that to this date, he doesn’t know what happened between them, and he never got an explanation from those involved.
She is one of my favourite artists, and she sings well. We reached out, and I even have the emails, and we agreed. Unfortunately, it never came through, so I do not know if it failed in negotiations or what.
I didn’t know what was happening because I was just an artist, but I remember her asking for a percentage of the song. I do not know if they disagreed on the percentages, but that should already show you that I love collaborations, especially intentional ones, because I still have to serve my sound.

Zulitums parted ways with Balcq Avay in 2023 after three years of working together. The decision was mutual, according to a joint statement.
