Two ladies, identified as Shantel and Princess, both from Kisasi, have been apprehended for blackmailing Shakib Cham Lutaaya with an alleged affair, trying to ruin his marriage.
The two were accused of posting content on social media suggesting that Shakib was cheating on his wife Zari Hassan. They uploaded videos with daring captions such as ‘my baby’ and calling Zari their co-wife, trying to ruin the couple’s marriage.
Princess revealed that Shantel was involved with Shakib’s longtime friend OJ, who invited her to Shakib’s place, where he was staying for his short vacation. Princess tagged along as she wanted to look out for her friend.
She adds that out of excitement at how beautiful the house looked, she captured videos on her phone, which she later shared, only putting Shakib’s name. She claims Shantel then asked her for the same videos, and she quickly posted them on her status with the daring captions.
We didn’t know that it was Shakib’s house. We took videos of the art, which looked beautiful, and we spent the night. My friend had invited me to accompany her. I admit I did it out of excitement without anyone’s permission, Princess confessed.
Shortly after they had posted, Shakib claimed that an unknown number contacted him, showing him the videos. Then he also got an unknown account on Snapchat under the name ‘Esther Collection’, which threatened to report him to Zari and accuse him of cheating. The culprit blackmailed him for five million to be paid within two hours to buy their silence.
The distressed Shakib rushed to the police and had the two ladies apprehended. They were tasked to publicly apologize for trying to tarnish his image and destroy his marriage.

During their appearance on Sanyuka TV, both ladies accused each other of the act. Shantel, in her defense, noted that she had only reposted her friend’s videos, and a mutual friend from her contact list had screen-recorded the videos and sent them to Shakib.
Princess, on the other hand, knelt down before the camera and apologized to Zari and Shakib Cham Lutaaya for sending the videos she had captured to her friend.
I captured the videos without permission and forwarded them to my friend, who put all those captions that put us in all these problems, she said.
According to Shakib, the ladies denied being behind the blackmail, claiming that the person behind the blackmail was the one who screen-recorded and shared the videos all over. The police tasked them to produce the person behind the video circulation.
