Zanie Brown has encouraged the young generation considering a music career to make their own money to avoid being taken advantage of.
In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Zanie Brown explained that young women entering the music industry are often targeted by men who make false promises to help them promote their music. Being broke leaves these young artists vulnerable and exposed to manipulation, as they hope for a big breakthrough.
Additionally, Zanie Brown urged budding artists to continually research the industry they are about to dive into. This can be done by associating with people who are already in the industry to give them firsthand experiences about what happens there.
“For girls, I advise you to do research about the industry you are coming into. Speak to people who have gone before you, and they actually wish you well to tell you about it all.
It is good for a woman first to get a job and make her own money if you do not have supporting parents or a manager willing to fund your music without sexual exploitation. Most of the managers will lie to you about funding your music, yet they want to sleep with you,” she noted.
Zanie Brown started making music at a young age, releasing songs like “Okwagala Akwagala” and “Friendly Match,” among others, that captured the attention of music lovers. Just as her career was gaining momentum, the singer took a big break. When she bounced back, she opened up about the spiritual challenges she faced throughout her career.
This forced her to turn her life around and concentrate on gospel music, something she encouraged aspiring artists to follow suit as it was the only way to protect themselves.
“The most important thing is loving God because when you have the fear of God, you will not do some things. I advise young people out there, if you are not in a hurry, you do not need circular music because there are so many dangers out there. You might not overcome without spiritual backup,” Zanie Brown said.
