The Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court has finally granted YouTuber Shalom Kaweesi bail after over a week of sleeping behind bars.
Shalom, this afternoon was rearraigned in court, where the magistrate announced that the bail was on a noncash bond of five million plus each of his sureties bound on a noncash bond of 5 million. Shalom is expected to reappear in court on February 3rd at 9:30 am.
Following his release, Shalom expressed gratitude to his support system, who have stood by him during this challenging period.
The bail follows Shalom’s remand to Luzira Prison on cases of cyber harassment and hate speech. His arrest happened on set during his YouTube interview, where armed security officers apprehended him and sent him to Makindye Magistrate’s Court.
According to the court, Shalom, in one of his YouTube videos published in August, made claims that were deemed hateful and cyber-harassing by Full Figure while hosting Dr Robert Kironde.

In the same vein, events promoter Nobat Events, real name is Norbert Twizire, was also granted a non-cash bail of Ugx 5M.
