BULAMBULI
As the clock ticks down to July 16, 2025, when the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will conduct its internal elections for parliamentary candidates, current Bulambuli Woman Member of Parliament and former Minister of energy, Eng. Irenè Muloni, finds herself under significant pressure.
This pressure is largely due to the rising star of Jackline Giduno Nandutu, who has officially been nominated to contest for the Bulambuli NRM woman Parliamentary seat.
Nandutu Giduno’s emergence in the political landscape of Bulambuli woman MP seat signals a potential shift in power.
Having established herself within the community, many constituents believe the time has come for a change. Muloni, who has held this position for two decades, is viewed by some as having failed to meet the community’s needs.
Critics argue that her tenure has been marred by allegations of tribalism drawing lines between Baabuya, Baadadiri as well as Baaduda REFUGEES and a lack of genuine engagement with the electorate. Issues such as poor road conditions and unmet promises have left many residents disillusioned.
Local sentiments reflect a palpable desire for change. Many residents have expressed concern over what they perceive as Muloni’s neglect of essential services and infrastructure.
“She has been in power for so long, yet we still struggle with impassable roads and lack of basic amenities,” one resident remarked. Community members have accused the former Minister of prioritizing personal interests over those of the people who elected her.
In stark contrast, Jackline Nandutu Giduno is being heralded as a beacon of hope. Since moving to the area, she has already begun making impactful contributions, even before her official election. Her commitment to community welfare is evident through various initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, education, and local entrepreneurship.
In the realm of education, Nandutu Giduno’s influence is equally commendable. She has supported several schools and provided bursaries to over 50 learners at various educational levels. This financial assistance is crucial, particularly in a region where many families struggle to afford education for their children.
Nandutu’s impact extends beyond healthcare and education; she has also made strides in local economic empowerment. She has donated boda boda motorcycles to residents, facilitating transport and creating new job opportunities without expecting anything in return. Furthermore, her support for Bulambuli district women’s groups, including training in skills such as soap making, tailoring, and hairdressing, has empowered many to become financially independent.
Her contributions to agriculture are noteworthy as well. By donating chicks to farmers, she is not only helping to improve food security but also providing a source of income for struggling households. Her commitment to training young people in various skills, including salon services and vocational training, demonstrates a holistic approach to community development.
As the election date approaches, the narrative in bulambuli district is shifting. Many voters are rallying behind Jackline Nandutu Giduno, viewing her as a candidate who genuinely understands their challenges and is willing to address them. The impending electoral battle between Jackline Nandutu, Sarah Nambozo, Nandudu Annet and Eng. Irene Muloni is not just about political power; it represents a broader struggle for responsive and responsible governance in a community yearning for change.
As the NRM prepares for its internal elections, the stakes are high in Bulambuli district. The outcome will not only determine the future of Eng. Muloni but also shape the lives of countless residents who are hopeful for a better tomorrow under Jackline Giduno Nandutu. The forthcoming election could very well be a turning point, as constituents seek a leader who prioritizes their needs and aspirations.
