Veteran Kadongo Kamu singer Willy Mukabya has announced that he is now a born-again Christian and has started a church in his name with his 19 children being the first batch of members.
The singer revealed the news after a special Thanksgiving prayer session, where he was mainly thanking God for the gift of life and family.
During his discussion with the press, Willy Mukaabya noted that God had for a long time instructed him to serve him, but had constantly ignored the calling.
Now that he has finally given in to the conviction, Willy Mukabya believes he is ready and anointed to start pastoring God’s children by forming a church.
“I dedicated myself to serving my God. I first did it in music and he has constantly shown me that he wants me to serve him in words through pastoring his children. I first paid no attention but everywhere I go, they tell me I’m anointed. I did not find myself worthy at first but slowly God kept showing me,” he said.
Willy Mukaabya is already being addressed as ‘Pastor,’ which has left social media users wondering and questioning how fast he became one with a section judging him, claiming that the motive behind his decision was to extort money from his flock, something he strongly denies.
“All the time I spent on stage, it was a form of pastoring through music. But when I decide to serve him by building a church it is going to be the same thing,” Willy Mukaabya said.
The church under construction is called ‘Kwebaza Church Center’. He started as a safe space for people who want to come in for Thanksgiving because he believes it is important to thank God for all the things he keeps doing in one’s life before anything else.
“In life, we have to be thankful for the small things he has done before we even ask for anything. This step shows how serious I am; that is why I’m here officially,” he said.
Willy Mukaabya was previously affiliated with Kakande’s church and despite becoming a pastor, he vowed that he would still do his music. For the dreads, he said he is waiting for God’s directive on whether to cut them off or stay with them.
