Weasel Manizo Hits Back at Keko Over This Is How We Do It Remix Consent Claims

Date:

Weasel Manizo has responded to rapper Keko’s claims that they tagged her hit song ‘This Is How We Do It’ for the remix without asking her for consent.

Using the official ‘Radio & Weasel’ page, Weasel expressed his disappointment in Keko’s statement, terming her ungrateful despite all the effort they put into the remix.

He was so quick to remind her that it was the same remix that earned a spot in the Channel O Music Video Awards, winning her the Most Gifted East African Video award in 2011.

“Why are people so ungrateful sometimes? The truth still remains, we gave you a remix that gave you The Most Gifted East African Video award at the Channel O Music Video Awards in 2011. Credit where credit is due. Remixes shine, but original pave way. Don’t talk too much nonsense to discredit us,” Weasel wrote.

Keko, while appearing on the Baboon Forest podcast, revealed that she released her version of the song, which became an instant hit. Shortly after, she claims Weasel approached her after listening to the song, and before she knew it, he had already recorded his verse on it the next day.

Keko noted that she had no close relationship with the duo, emphasizing that they were not friends before the time the remix was made. She confessed that he didn’t give her a chance to select who she wanted to do the remix with because everything was done very fast.

Weasel laughed off the claims, wondering how she was able to use the late Radio Mowzey’s voice for her hook when she claimed she didn’t know of their existence.

“You didn’t know Radio that well, but you managed to get a sample tag piece from our producer, Just Jose,” he said.

One fan in the comment section described the late Radio as an artist who didn’t take any nonsense from anyone. He suggested that if he were around, he would drive directly to where Keko was after the interview in search of clarity for her statements.

“She can only talk now because he (Radio) is not around, and I’m a humble guy,” Weasel responded with laughing emojis.
