Wakiso Electoral Commission Chair Tolbert Musinguzi Urges Voters to Verify Details Ahead of 2026 Polls

Date:

As the country prepares for the 2026 general elections, Tolbert Musinguzi, the Chairperson of the Wakiso District Electoral Commission, has used the Easter period to remind voters to verify their registration details on the National Voters’ Register.

Speaking during an Easter community engagement, Musinguzi emphasized the importance of confirming voter information, including names and polling stations, ahead of the mass voter verification exercise set to begin on May 25, 2025. The exercise will run for five weeks, concluding on June 17, 2025.

Musinguzi explained that the exercise will help citizens:
– Confirm their details are correctly captured in the electoral register.
– Identify their designated polling stations to avoid confusion on voting day.
– Update records for deceased persons or those who have relocated.

He further outlined the verification process, noting that electoral officers will visit all designated registration centers to assist voters.

Special Consideration for Vulnerable Groups
Musinguzi assured that persons with disabilities and the elderly will not be left behind, as the commission has put in place measures to facilitate their participation.

He urged all stakeholders, including local leaders and community mobilizers, to support the exercise by encouraging voter turnout. “Do not wait until the last minute—verify your details now to avoid any surprises on election day,” he cautioned.

The call comes as Uganda gears up for a critical electoral cycle, with voter accuracy being a key factor in ensuring a smooth and credible election process.
