Wakiso: DP’s Nassali pledges support for church projects if elected MP

Date:

Maria Nassali Masereka, the Democratic Party candidate for Wakiso Woman MP, has committed to tabling a bill to financially support churches and their development projects if elected in 2026.

Speaking to Bbeg Media after a Sunday service at St. James Church of Uganda in Bwebajja along Entebbe Road, Nassali highlighted the church’s contributions to national development through health services, education, and women and youth initiatives.

“When elected as your legislator in 2026, I will present a motion to financially support all churches to become self-sufficient and continue partnering with the government in national development,” Nassali stated.

Eve Kibirige, catechist at St. James Church, urged Christians to back the church’s development plans, citing the need for a new architectural design to accommodate 300 people. The proposed plan includes a Sunday school, parking space, washrooms, and church offices on a 2.5-decimal plot of land.

Bwebajja Christians praised Nassali for her commitment to addressing service delivery issues and pledged their support for her candidacy.
