Dancehall musician Vyper Ranking has clapped back at King Michael, claiming that he doesn’t recognize him as a dancehall artist.
King Michael appeared in one of the YouTube interviews, discussing Vyper Ranking’s music and his contribution to the genre. Among the many issues included the claims that his music lacked enough depth and that he couldn’t rate himself among the top dancehall artists in the industry.
Responding to the claims, Vyper Ranking had no kind words, revealing that Michael was trying to disrespect his craft before bragging about being one of the notable dancehall artists currently running the industry.
“I do not know King Michael as a dancehall artist, but it is enough if he recognizes me as one. It is very hard for anyone to talk about Dancehall artists in Uganda right now without mentioning my name. I worked hard for that, and I deserve it. I will not mention his name. Maybe it is because he was in the industry before we were born,” he said.
Vyper broke down the qualities that qualify an artist as a good dancehall artist, emphasizing that they had to follow the principles of the genre, which were doing music, flow, and lyrics on the dancehall beats. This is something he believes King Michael doesn’t follow when making his music.
Vyper insisted that Michael’s venomous claims stemmed from the fact that he judged him before listening to his music in depth.
“He talked about me because he doesn’t listen to my music, and he was quick to judge. Such a person cannot advise me because if we are to compare, I’m so far above him. Even when Jamaicans visit, they notice me. I do not know what music he does, and I do not think he has five dancehall songs. And he stopped years back. I only know two songs, and by then I was very young. That is not dancehall,” he said.
Vyper further stressed that King Michael can never be his role model in the genre because he has no notable achievements, despite having been in the industry for a long time.

“I can only listen to artists like A Pass because he is very talented, his brand is doing well, his music is trending and he has done many successful things. But looking at DJ Micheal, he has been around for so long but surprisingly he had his first major concert recently,” he said.
