UMSC IPLE Board Releases Examination Results for 2024

During a well-attended ceremony, the Islamic Primary Leaving Examination Board (IPLE) under the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Education Department officially released the 2024 Islamic Primary Leaving Examination results on Monday, January 13, 2025. His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the 2nd Deputy Mufti, represented His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, who is currently attending a conference in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The event was graced by members of the National Management Committee, led by Hon. Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the UMSC Secretary General, along with the Executives Haj Muhmood Kateregga Namuguzi Sebuganda, Haj Yusuf Mayanja, and Hon. Hajjat Sophie Safina Kenyangi, the National Chairperson of the Muslim Women Council. They were joined by members of the UMSC, IPLE staff, prominent academicians, headteachers, school directors, parents, pupils, and other stakeholders.


In his remarks, Sheikh Waiswa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the IPLE Board members and staff for their tireless efforts in delivering quality Muslim education. He commended the new approaches being implemented, which have resulted in a trusted and authentic examination process across the country. He urged Muslim stakeholders, including parents, to support the board in its mission to elevate Muslim education to the highest standards.


Sheikh Waiswa also emphasized the importance of reviewing the existing syllabus to incorporate specialized areas within Islamic theological studies and further research. He expressed profound appreciation for the outstanding performance achieved by the schools, parents, and pupils in the past year and promised continued support from UMSC to the IPLE Board in executing its responsibilities.

The ceremony featured several speeches, including one by Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Aluma, Deputy Secretary in charge of Finance & Administration, who represented Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, the UMSC Education Secretary. He discussed upcoming educational initiatives, such as the digitalization of the registration of Islamic schools and the importance of proper coordination of educational programs. Sheikh Ali Lukyamuzi, the IPLE Board Chair, presented a detailed report on the board’s activities, while Sheikh Ismail Kazibwe read out the 32-page booklet containing the examination results for 2024, covering 371 registered schools across 62 districts. A total of 6,532 candidates sat for the exam.
The results were as follows:

  • First grade: 4,817 students
  • Second grade: 1,107 students
  • Third grade: 204 students

  • Sumayya International School, Masaka District
  • Tasneem Junior School, Wakiso District
  • Al Bayan Quran Memorization Centre, Iganga
  • Kyotera Islamic Primary School, Kyotera District
  • Omar Bin Al Khatab Islamic Centre, Iganga
  • Sulaina Sofraa Primary School, Jinja
  • Aloosh Islamic School, Wakiso District
  • Ibn Twahir Day & Care Nursery & Primary School, Wakiso District
