Uganda Environment Forum Launches: A New Step Towards a Cleaner Future

Date:

The Uganda Environment Forum was officially launched at Next Media Park through a partnership between Next Media’s Taasa Obutonde initiative and Zero Waste Africa. This launch marks a continued fight for better waste management and a healthier environment in Uganda.

The forum aims to bring together everyone from government, businesses, media, schools, and communities—to take responsibility for waste under the theme “My Waste, My Responsibility.” It’s about changing how Ugandans think and act around the environment.

At the launch, Daniel Komunda, Head of Brands and Marketing at Next Media, said, “We want to do more than raise awareness. Through daily stories on TV and radio, we show real people and businesses making changes. This helps people see how they can do it too.”

Anete Garoza, co-founder of 1MTN and ESG professional, added, “Sustainability is not just good for the planet; it makes good business sense. Everyone can play a part, even small businesses.”

Bringing in the behavior change perspective, Mr. Elias Kiggundu, President of Environmental Behavior Change Management, said, “To really change, people need to be entertained and educated at the same time. We must use stories and shows that connect with people without sounding like a lecture.”

The Uganda Environment Forum will keep pushing this message, using media, education, and partnerships to make sure everyone feels responsible for protecting Uganda’s environment. This launch is just the beginning of a movement to build a cleaner, greener country for all.
