UCC Bans Lil Pazo, Gravity’s Music From All Media Platforms

Date:

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has taken a strong move against vulgar and obscene content in music and online media.

Following a meeting with various stakeholders, the UCC has issued a directive to broadcasters, online content providers, and social media users to immediately stop promoting and sharing songs that contain explicit lyrics and sexually suggestive themes.

Specifically, the UCC has singled out songs by popular artists Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, including tracks like “Enkudi,” “Dooze,” “Okwepicha,” “Enyama,” and “Omunio.” These songs, the UCC argues, promote immorality and undermine the nation’s cultural values.

The UCC’s Executive Director, Nyombi Thembo, has warned that broadcasters and presenters who continue to air these songs could face regulatory sanctions or even criminal charges. The commission aims to protect the public, especially young people, from harmful content.

This move comes after the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) also expressed concerns about the explicit nature of these songs. The UNCC summoned Gravity and Lil Pazo to discuss the issue and urged them to create more wholesome music.
