Two Motorcyclists killed in a Head-on Collusion in Kisoro District

The Police in Kisoro District have confirmed that two people died after two motorcycles registration numbers UET 873J and UES 919S had a headon collusion.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the accident took place last night at Rukoro village along Kisoro – Bunagana road in Kisoro District.




Maate identified the deceased persons as 32 year old Irankunda Iva, a resident of Gafurizo village in Karambi Parish in Nyarubuye Sub-county who was the rider of motorcycle UES 919S and Hafashimana Edward, a Boda Boda rider and resident of Rukundo Town Council also in Kisoro District and was the riding motorcycle registration number UET 873J.

Maate said that it’s alleged that both motorcycles were moving from opposite directions and moving in the middle of the road at a high speed and on reaching Rukoro village along Kisoro Bunagana road collided head on and Irankunda died on spot while Hafashimana died on arrival to Mutorele hospital.




The scene of the accident was visited by Police Traffic Sgt. Mbabazi James and team who drew a sketch map drawn and rushed victim to Mutorele hospital but died on arrival and the motorcycles were retrieved and are parked at Kisoro Central Police Station pending IOV inspection and the preliminary investigations suspect that the cause of the accident was over speeding and reckless riding.
