TomDee Responds to Allegations of Copying Crysto Panda’s Music Style

Date:

Singer and content creator TomDee has addressed allegations of copying Crysto Panda’s musical style and lyrical content.

TomDee, real name Bakulumpagi Tom Derrick, released ‘Mundeke Nenywere’ last week, which has taken TikTok by storm. While he is getting reviews for the song’s feel-good vibes, some music lovers feel he has copied Crysto Panda’s style.

Crysto Panda’s music is characterised by lyrics based on social media trends, rhymes, and catchy phrases, a concept that netizens feel TomDee incorporated into his new song. TomDee, during an interview, denied the claims, describing himself as highly creative and as having come up with his own music concepts.

He emphasized that he always wrote his own lyrics and was solely responsible for his music. This unique combination of originality and creativity was why many artists feared him.

“I write my own songs, and I’m very creative. I decide when to release a hit and when not to. I have done beautiful songs before, and it is normal. It no longer makes news when I release hit songs. Not to be disrespectful, but I cannot copy Panda. We do not sing the same way. I’m just very creative, and that is why most artists are scared of me,” he said.

TomDee acknowledged drawing inspiration from other artists but said the act didn’t amount to imitation.

“I release a hit song at any time that I want, and the moment I get to know that I can easily get inspiration from others, life is moving on well for me. But among my songs, I do not see any where I copied Panda,” he said.
