“This victory is yours,” Nakut tells voters after her victory in Napak is upheld

Date:

Faith Nakut, the incumbent Woman MP for Napak, has expressed gratitude to her constituents for their unwavering support in her battle to retain the NRM flag.

Nakut, whose victory in the primaries was upheld by the NRM Tribunal, said despite the “night operations of others and the ganging against us,” they had won.

“You are still the wise people I know, and I have not lost confidence in you,” she said in a message to her constituents.

The six-week campaign saw Nakut visit all 59 parishes in Napak, where she emphasized the importance of retaining the NRM flag and completing unfinished work in parliament for Napak and the broader Karamoja region.

In the message, she recalled the enthusiasm of her supporters, who danced to songs by local artists from Team Redemption and promised strong voter turnout.

“Never did my mind cast any doubt at the confidence you exhibited,” Nakut noted.

She said on the eve of the July 17 election, reports surfaced of blocked roads and alleged distribution of cash and crude waragi by her opponents. She, however, trusted her voters to make independent decisions.

“I instructed our teams not to supply anything until elections were done,” she said. “I had all trust in your abilities to make the right judgement without influence.”

Nakut’s opponent, Stella Namoe, had filed a petition alleging irregularities in several sub-counties, including Poron, Rapada, Nakwakwa, Lobok, and Lobulepeded.

But after nearly two weeks of review, the tribunal dismissed the case, affirming her victory.

Shortly after the verdict, Namoe announced plans to run as an independent in the upcoming election.

Nakut acknowledged the support she received during the petition process, including messages of encouragement and prayers from residents, even in areas where she faced losses.

“Deepest gratitude to you,” she said, adding, “Nothing can procure your conscience! Absolutely nothing! Super proud of you, Ngibokora.”

In the coming weeks, Nakut says she plans to visit Napak to discuss plans with her constituents.

“This victory is ours,” she declared.
