Telecom subsidiary MTN MoMo pivots to online shopping with its new Market by MoMo drive, offering doorstep delivery and up to 88% off home appliances.

KAMPALA, Uganda — MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited has launched a new promotional campaign called Sambagala Full Time, marking a strategic pivot into online shopping through its digital marketplace, Market by MoMo.

The campaign offers consumers discounts of up to 88 percent on home essentials, electronics, and appliances, combining secure mobile money payments with direct doorstep delivery.

The expansion signals MTN MoMo’s broader ambition to evolve beyond basic financial transactions and become a preferred digital solutions platform. By utilizing its established fintech ecosystem, the telecom subsidiary is positioning Market by MoMo as a trusted digital marketplace that delivers convenience directly to customers, similar to a traditional neighborhood shop.

Brian Mutungi, Country Lead for E-commerce for Market by MoMo at MTN Uganda, said the new digital marketplace drive reflects the changing needs of today’s customer who seeks convenience, trust, and value in every purchase.

“Through Market by MoMo, shoppers can access a wide variety of products, make secure payments using MTN MoMo and receive their purchases without the hassle of moving from store to store,” Mutungi said.

To drive consumer adoption during the campaign, the platform has introduced specific price reductions on major household assets. A Smartec 55-inch Android Frameless TV has been reduced to 992,000 Ugandan shillings from 2 million shillings, while an ADH 120-liter Double Door Top Freezer has been discounted from 600,000 shillings to 443,000 shillings.

Other items featured in the online shopping push include a Global Star two-in-one juice blender for 54,300 shillings, down from 100,000 shillings, an Oraimo 10,000 milliampere-hour power bank for 28,900 shillings, and P47 Bluetooth Headsets with FM Radio for 7,600 shillings.

To support the e-commerce drive, MTN MoMo will run a series of interactive challenges across social media platforms. Participants will have opportunities to win rewards, including Market by MoMo shopping vouchers and cart clearance prizes.

Customers can access the digital marketplace by visiting the market.momo.africa web portal or through the Market by MoMo section within the primary MoMo mobile application.

MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of MTN Uganda Limited, providing virtual mobile money wallets, peer-to-peer transfers, and utility payments to more than 14 million customers.
