Swangz Avenue Responds as Fans Demand and Secure Vinka Concert

Date:

What began as a student-led push on TikTok has turned into a landmark moment for Uganda’s music scene, as fans successfully secured a headline concert for Vinka.

The campaign, initiated by Makerere University students and led by content creator Vine, started as a simple online petition calling on Swangz Avenue to organize a major concert for the popular singer. The idea quickly gained traction, drawing over 2,000 signatures and igniting widespread engagement across TikTok and other social media platforms.

Fans flooded timelines with videos, messages, and calls to action, all centered around one key demand: giving Vinka the headline concert many felt she deserved after years of hits and performances.

The turning point came when Vine and a group of supporters delivered the petition in person to Swangz Avenue’s offices in Kampala. With cameras rolling, the label acknowledged the fans’ efforts and delivered the news everyone had been waiting for.

A representative of Swangz Avenue, Benon Mugumbya, confirmed that the label had listened to the fans and would make the concert a reality.

“This came from the fans. Swangz will make it happen,” he said. “We heard them, and we are delivering.”

Vinka, who was present during the announcement, expressed heartfelt appreciation to her supporters for their persistence and belief in her.

“This is for all of you who never stopped asking,” she said.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in Vinka’s career, highlighting not only her growth as an artist but also the growing influence of fan-driven movements in shaping Uganda’s entertainment industry.
