Renowned singer Swahaba Kasumba has denounced his Islamic religion, officially announcing his shift to the traditional religion.
On 31 December 2025, traditionalists led by Jjumba Lubowa Aligaweesa converged in Mukono Kirowoozo to celebrate the 2025 achievements and usher in the new year 2026.
The celebration, graced by traditionalists, featured several traditional activities, including dances, music, rituals, and plenty of food.
Midway through the festivities, singer Swahaba Kasumba, who was in attendance, took the opportunity to embrace his new religion publicly.
Kasumba put off his Islamic attire, including his Jubba, which was gifted to him by Mina-based Sheikh Abdallah Zaake Ahmed Mukasa.
The singer further took off his taqiyah (cape), which he claimed he had bought Ugx 50K at the Uganda Islamic in Kampala before going backstage to undress the remaining red Kanzu, saying he no longer needed any attire linked to Islam.
