Stecia Mayanja Fires Back at Critics: My Past Does Not Define My Future in Politics

Date:

Musician Stecia Mayanja has hit back at all the critics using her stained past to deem her unfit for a political position.

Following her unveiling as the president of the newly formed National Peasants’ Party (NPP), netizens have criticized Stecia Mayanja, claiming she was not an ideal candidate for a leadership position. Many kept bringing up her past, saying she failed in many relationships and marriages.

The rants rubbed Stecia and her ardent supporters the wrong way, acknowledging her stained past but emphasizing that it didn’t determine what she was as a person.

“All that they are saying is what i told them. I know my past more than they do. To all the voices that said that stuff, yes I have failed in life but I have never stopped to rise again,” she said.

Stecia further noted that she was ashamed of what she went through since many other Ugandans had faced a similar fate. She, however, expressed her disappointment towards everyone using her experiences to put her down.

“That is why when I go for interviews, I confidently talk about what I have gone through. I’m not ashamed because it is the story of many other Ugandans.

Many have gone through what I went through, and I do not know why they use my experiences. Leadership is not about having a perfect past and I didn’t come to seek for applause or approval,” she said.
