Songwriter Nikoly Ten Explains Similarities Between B2C’s Jaribu and Sheebah’s Wesibadde Songs

Date:

Songwriter Nikoly Ten has set the record straight about the similarities between B2C’s ‘Jaribu’ and Sheebah’s ‘Wesibadde’ songs that led fans to believe they sound the same.

Following the release of their album, B2C Entertainment dropped a single dubbed ‘Jaribu’ written by Nikoly Ten, the same writer behind ‘Wesibade’ by Sheebah.

Both songs were produced by DT before ‘Wesibade’ was sent to Nessim Pan Production to master. Upon release, music fans have noticed a similarity between the two songs, especially with the melodies and the chorus.

Addressing the issue in a radio interview, Nikoly refuted the allegations of writing similar songs, explaining that they just had the same Chord Progression, a sequence of chords played in a specific order that forms the harmonic foundation of a piece of music.

“Just go back and listen to both songs. They do not have the same melodies. There is what we call chord progression, and that is what sounds similar, but they are totally different.

Nikolay was at the center of controversy a few months ago amid confusion between Sheebah and Grenade, both of whom released ‘Nyweera’. In a phone interview, Nikolay claimed that he wrote the song for Sheebah Karungi, and when her team delayed, he sold it to Grenade Official.

When Sheebah made up her mind to buy the song, she had to speak to Grenade first, since he had already released it. They had an agreement for Sheebah to buy the song, but Nikolay insisted that he was not involved in their dealings afterwards.
