Musician and songwriter Shena Skies, real name Namagembe Shena, has opened up on the heartbreak that drove her into terrible depression and almost cost her life.
Shena Skies has significantly lost weight, prompting assumptions that it was due to substance abuse and depression. In her recent interview, she acknowledged battling depression, and the rapid weight loss was situational and a product of a heartbreak.
She revealed that she fell in love with a man whose identity she preferred to remain undisclosed, who ended up disappointing her. She stressed that she expected so much from this guy and almost gave up her career to make the relationship work.
Shena revealed that she had once dreamt of settling down in marriage and having kids with the guy she had dated for two years. Unfortunately, the man in question was not on the same page.
“I fell in love and it didn’t go so well. Love did me so dirty because I had truly fallen in love with this person. Many times, I had been asked if I wanted to have kids but always answered that I was still young. But I was so in love to the point that I was willing to put my career aside entirely and do whatever he wanted. Like be his wife, be a mom; but he was not as truthful as I thought he would be. I couldn’t continue with the relationship,” she said.
She stressed that the man cheated on her and and having given in her whole, it significantly broke her. Furthermore, Shena made it known that the relationship with this guy inspired a number of love songs, including Loco by Rema Namakula featuring Chike.

“It just broke me because I had put myself in that life. That is why I lost weight because I didn’t have an appetite for anything. He cheated on me but he was not abusive. I have not had an abusive relationship and I cannot be with a man who hits me because not even my mum has ever beaten me,” she said.
Shena Skies revealed that she didn’t publicize her relationship on social media because she chooses to date privately. She considered flaunting her relationship on social media if the man had proposed to her.
