The incident unfolded in less than two minutes, with two armed men—carrying guns and machetes—storming the supermarket, threatening staff, and stealing cash from the counter and a safe, according to owner Brian Kayongo. As the suspects fled, a guard from a nearby bar attempted to intervene but was gunned down and his weapon stolen.
Local leader Michael Ssendawula reported that residents immediately notified Kira Division Police, who arrived promptly but were unable to apprehend the suspects.
The deadly robbery follows another violent incident just a day earlier in Kitintale, where a suspected thief was killed during a foiled mobile money heist—fueling growing concerns over a possible resurgence of urban armed crime.
