Second Concert Cancellation in Days: Mathias Walukagga Joins King Saha, Musicians Lament Losses

Date:

Singer and politician Mathias Walukagga is inconsolable after his show was cancelled by the police over unclear circumstances.

Walukagga was set to entertain his fans today at Front Page Namasuba, only to be hit by the news of the cancellation yesterday.  Speaking in a TV interview, the Kyengera Mayor explained that he didn’t get the news immediately as he had exams to sit at St. Lawrence University.

On his way to rehearsals, he got a call from his events promoter, who gave him the bad news that the Police didn’t have enough manpower to help ensure the concert ran smoothly.

Walukagga expressed his disappointment with the police’s decision, arguing that a concert set to take place indoors didn’t need that much security as they claimed.

We wrote the necessary letters, but I believe it was intentional, as they did to King Saha in Kyotera. It has affected me so much that I have lost money. I had planned to use that for my campaigns.

The money I had with me at first, I wasted it in court when my opponents claimed I never went to school. I paid my lawyers the cash and thought I would replace it with my show. I don’t know what is happening, but I know I will come out successful.

Mathias Walukagga is not the first musician to have a concert canceled, as King Saha faced the same challenge when authorities canceled his Kyotera concert.
