Ruhija Residents Cry Out Over Lack of Clean Water, Electricity, and Poor School Infrastructure – Xclusive UG.

Date:

Rubanda-Residents of Ruhija Town Council in Rubanda West, Rubanda District, have raised alarm over poor service delivery, citing lack of clean water, electricity, and deteriorating school infrastructure in the area.

These concerns came to light on Monday during a community engagement led by Eng. Julius Twinomujuni Buzaare, an LC5 Chairperson aspirant, as he campaigned for votes ahead of the NRM party primaries slated for July 24.

Speaking at the meeting, Niwagaba Alex, the LC2 Chairperson of Buzaniro Ward, highlighted the sorry state of Mbura Miizi Primary School, describing it as critically dilapidated and in need of urgent government intervention.

“Our children are studying under very poor conditions. The classrooms are falling apart, and this is affecting the quality of education. Government must act now,” Niwagaba urged.

He also expressed frustration over the lack of clean water and electricity, saying residents trek long distances to access safe water for domestic use. He appealed to the government to extend power supply to rural communities, noting that access to electricity could enable young people to start small businesses and reduce unemployment.

Rukundo Brian, a resident of Nyakabungo Cell, echoed similar concerns, stating that the poor state of roads in Ruhija is hurting household incomes. He emphasized the need for urgent government support to rehabilitate rural roads and improve access to markets.

“We feel left behind. Without roads, water, and power, how can we improve our lives?” Rukundo questioned.

In response, Eng. Buzaare acknowledged the service delivery gaps and blamed them on poor leadership and corruption at the district level.

“The government sends money for these projects, but when leaders are corrupt, it is the people who suffer,” Buzaare said. “I am asking you to support me so that we can build a better, united Rubanda.”

Buzaare pledged to prioritize education, infrastructure, and rural electrification if elected into office. He also committed to ensuring that the district constructs classroom blocks, in addition to providing iron sheets supplied by the central government, to improve learning conditions.

He further promised to monitor and implement government programs effectively to restore trust and ensure equitable service delivery across Rubanda District.

The meeting in Ruhija Town Council marks part of Buzaare’s wider campaign tour as he engages with voters ahead of the heated NRM primary elections.
