Rubanda-Residents of Kashasha and Habuhutu Town Councils in Greater Bufundi, Rubanda West Constituency, have raised serious concerns over the appalling state of roads in their area, blaming poor leadership and ineffective service delivery for their plight.
The frustrations were aired during a community engagement meeting with Eng. Julius Twinomujuni Buzaare, who is vying for the Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson seat under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in the forthcoming primaries.
James Kabuushu, Vice Chairperson of Rwaseyeza Village in Buhutu Town Council, criticized the current district leadership for failing to meet its development promises.
“Our connectivity to the rest of the district is crucial for development,” he stated, stressing that poor roads continue to hinder social and economic progress.
Another resident, Oshabohurira Moses, a bricklayer from Buniga Village in Kashasha Town Council, shared how the lack of infrastructure affects daily life.
“We face challenges accessing good roads and clean water, which hampers our daily activities,” he said. Moses called for leadership that prioritizes the everyday needs of citizens.
In response, Eng. Buzaare acknowledged the widespread dissatisfaction and committed to addressing the root causes of underdevelopment in the district.
He cited corruption as a major obstacle, claiming the current administration has failed to account for the Shs 1 billion allocated annually to districts for road maintenance and improvement.”As LC5 Chairperson, I will ensure transparency and efficient use of public funds to deliver services that people genuinely need,” Buzaare said.
He also pledged to boost the health and education sectors through inclusive and accountable governance.
