Rising Singer Dynaso Wegoso Appeals for Financial Help After UCC Bans “Mukube Paver” Song

Date:

Rising singer Dynaso Wegoso has publicly asked for financial assistance from all well-wishers following UCC’s suspension of his Mukube Paver viral song over concerns about violence.

During a TV interview, Dynaso explained that he was making music solely to improve his life, but blames the public for giving too much attention to this particular song, even though he has others.

Uganda Communications Commission, in its statement, directed all broadcasters and social media users to immediately suspend any programs, discussions, or content that promote the song, and failure to do so would result in a two-year imprisonment sentence. Wegose revealed that the directive affected him so much that the song’s numerous challenges on TikTok helped grow his account and gain him more fans.

“Mukube Paver” is about the brutal methods used by street thugs to rob netizens, who later claim their lives. Dynaso claimed that he was singing about the harsh realities of these attackers that are common on the streets, but was never glorifying violence. He revealed that he is willing to cooperate with UCC after he was summoned on 16th April and answer their questions.

“I sing about what is happening, and I’m not the first person to do such kind of music. Since the 90s, it has been happening. I’m an artist and a creative mind who comes up with different things. I may have made a mistake in making that song, and I do not argue with that, but I’m trying to tell people that people are dying because of that,” Wagose said.

Signed to Black Market Records, Dynaso revealed that his bosses refused to take down the song from digital platforms, but all his bookings had been halted due to the directive. He now appeals to Minister Balaam and all well-wishers to help him out financially, as this has affected his source of income.

“I need help because I’m not doing well, and no one can employ me because of my looks. Weekend I had many bookings but my song was banned. All that is gone. I’m my mother’s lastborn, and I have children to take care of. I’m not saying I cannot take care of them, but my source of income is gone,” Dynaso Wegoso said.
