Musician Rickman has opened up on his plans to retire from music in 2028 and concentrate on his businesses and life.
Rickman achieved his big breakthrough in 2019 with his hit song ‘Bango’ and has since released music at his own pace. Unlike musicians who release music back-to-back in search of hit songs, Rickman emphasized that he creates music out of passion, not for money. While speaking to BBS TV, he revealed that he was not in a rush.
Having invested in several side businesses, Rickman hopes to retire from making music in 2028 with his very first and last concert, which he has named ‘Ten Years of Rickman.’ He will be celebrating a decade of making music and also bidding farewell to his fans as he retires.
I have music but I’m not in a rush. Releasing songs back to back doesn’t give you a hit. Every person has their own time. The only artists who consistently had hit songs with every release were Radio & Weasel.
At this time, I’m just doing music because I have to but not for survival or looking for money. When I released Ebango, I was just excited. I had just started music and I enjoyed it so much. Now I just release music to be around. In the future, they will listen and appreciate my music. I will be retiring from music in 2028. Ten years of Rickman will be my very first and last concert,” he said.

Despite being an active musician, Rickman is not among the artists seen on stages every other day. In the interview, he revealed that he doesn’t get booked often because the promoters are not willing to pay him the money he asks for.

They do not have the money to pay me. The ones who have the money I want get me. I have some small shows that I perform at. In Kampala, I ask for two million, and when it is outside Kampala, we have to increase, he noted.
