Musician Rickman Manrick has opened up about his experience with self-styled motivational speaker Frank Gashumba, while he dated his daughter, Sheilah Gashumba.
A few Years back, a leaked audio depicted Frank Gashumba swearing that he would not accept Rickman as his son-in-law, citing his rugged look. He described his plaited hairstyle, which he said looked like that of warlord Joseph Kony.
In a sit-down interview with Ruth Kalibbala, Rickman Manrick was tasked to react to the name tag that trended on social media.
The jovial and calm ‘Bango’ hitmaker revealed that he wasn’t bothered or hurt when he heard the statement. He noted that he took the statement on a lighter note because he indeed had the hairstyle that bothered Gashumba.
He further expressed his utmost respect towards Frank Gashumba, noting that for the time he spent with his daughter, he had learned to accept him and his ways.

“I wasn’t bothered by the way. He called me Kony, but it didn’t hurt. This was because I still had the hair he was talking about.
It was just a reference. Like the way someone can praise you using abusive language. Sometimes you just have to learn the ways of other people and accept them the way they are.
I met Mr. Frank Gashumba three to four times, but it was just ‘hello’ between us; nothing more. After that, we each went our separate ways, so I cannot really explain why he did this,” he said.
